April 4-6, 2017: ASTM Committee E18 Meeting in Toronto

Make plans now to attend the Spring 2017 ASTM Committee E18 meeting in Toronto Ontario, April 4-6. Toronto always promises great culinary experiences and a wonderful diversity of culture. Highlights of the E18 meeting will include exciting new seminars with deeper discussion on how to create best practices and standards for sensory testing with an increasingly diverse consumer base, across countries and cultures. Highlights of the new seminars include:

“It’s A Small World; Applying Sensory Methods Cross-Culturally in the World of Globalization”

Wed. April 5th 3-5pm

This workshop will explore the challenges associated with different types of sensory methodology when they are used cross-culturally and will utilize case studies to illustrate how the challenges can be addressed in order to deliver solid data. The full toolbox of sensory tools will be covered from Analytical, including Discrimination and Descriptive to Consumer, both Qualitative and Quantitative, including a focus on Innovation tools.  You should come away from this workshop with greater awareness of considerations that need to be taken into account when testing cross-culturally and some practical ways to start on your global sensory testing journey.

“Getting Creative with Your Consumers – How to Build and Engage a Creative Consumer Panel”

This is a free seminar coordinated by Lisa Beck from Insights Factory, with keynote speakers Michaela Gragert from Conagra Brands and Nancy Peper from McCormick & Company, Inc.

Additionally, new discussions are scheduled for developing standard practices for Sensory Research of Devices – Mechanical and Electronic and Sensory Evaluation of Regulated Products.
